I guess that really was Obama's fault!!
Because ever since then, no one wants to acknowledge how well the economy is doing today, or give much of the credit for the recovery to President Obama!
But, consider this . . Mitt Romney wrote an op-ed in December of 2008 criticizing Obama for suggesting that we bail out the car companies in this country.
A whole month before Obama was even sworn in as President!!!!!!
Still think the Republicans have tried to save or create jobs in this country over the last 6 years??
Think again.

(17,656 posts)I'll bet $1000 dollars that Mitt's dad was spinning in his grave when his son said that about letting all of those car companies go down the drain.
However, the only thing that went down the drain was any chance Mitt ever had of sitting in the chair behind that famous desk in the Oval Office!!!
Boy, you don't miss a beat.
I can't believe you found a pic of Mitt's op-ed article that he wrote back in 2008 so freakin' fast!!
Nothing captured for all time the complete lunacy of Mitt the Dimwitt ever thinking he could be a leader of this country than that stupid obscene op-ed that he wrote.

Time for another victory lap
By Steve Benen
Fortunately for the White House, all of the news related to the bailout continues to be good.
Chrysler said Tuesday that it had paid back $7.6 billion in loans from the American and Canadian governments, marking another significant step in the revival of the company, the smallest of the Detroit automakers.
Chrysler said it made payments of $5.9 billion to the United States Treasury and $1.7 billion to Export Development Canada in a series of transactions completed Tuesday morning. The payments retired outstanding loans and covered interest on the debt.
Chryslers chief executive, Sergio Marchionne, planned to formally announce the move at a ceremony Tuesday afternoon at an assembly plant in Sterling Heights, Mich
. The loans gave us a rare second chance to demonstrate what the people of this company can deliver, Mr. Marchionne said. We owe a debt of gratitude to those whose intervention allowed Chrysler Group to re-establish itself as a strong and viable carmaker.
The Obama administration is hailing the repayment as proof that its policy worked an argument that has the benefit of being true. Indeed, Obamas policy has proven so effective, Chrysler is paying back American taxpayers six years early.."

GM Bailout Ends as U.S. Sells Last of Government Motors
The Treasury Departments sale yesterday of final shares of GM signals the end of Government Motors, as the nations largest automaker was derisively labeled by some critics after the U.S. government stepped in with emergency funding in 2008. Bailouts from the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations helped GM avoid liquidation and reorganize in a 2009 bankruptcy that has given new life to the company.
This marks one of the final chapters in the administrations efforts to protect the broader economy by providing support for the automobile industry, Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew told reporters yesterday on a conference call.

All kidding aside, thank you for this post and the links therein. I have tried to encourage friends and family to understand that "recovery" is not the right word for what's happening to our global economy. Too many of us want to believe in recovery. Our economic behaviors will continue to enrich the vile corporate megalomaniacs unless (and until) we get a clue.
