Why are #Ferguson police stock piling weaponry to use against protesters? Protesters are UNARMEDWhats all this stock piling of weaponry to use against protesters for the upcoming Grand Jury decision? Protesters in Ferguson Missouri are UNARMED. Theyre not shooting at police. They have no weapons. Theyre exercising their constitutional right to protest an injustice.
Missouri authorities are scarying school officials, parents & residents about possible unrest with the indictment decision. Theyre doing nothing but creating fear about black people. Its beyond the pale. Show me where protesters shot at police? Show me where protesters attacked police. Police ATTACKED protesters. Amnesty International has documented evidence of Ferguson police committing human rights abuse on old people & little children fighting the effects of tear gas. With more stock piling of weapons it seems human rights violations doesnt mean anything to the police in Ferguson Missouri. Police are acting as if protesters are the enemy. In the words of Dr King, the greatness of America is the right to protest for right. The law is the law.

Ferguson is ugly, at least the PD is, the prosecutor and so many more. Ferguson is so corrupt, they stop harass blacks at an alarming rate. They are fined. The PD found a lucrative business here.

(83,319 posts)You have not listened to the wrong posts and yes, I believe that he will be gone.
My belief is that Eric Holder has both hands in this. I believe he is watching and acting.
Holder: 'Wholesale Change' Needed in Ferguson PD
Outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that the need for "wholesale change" in the Ferguson, Missouri, police department was "pretty clear."
But asked about reports that changes are coming in how the Ferguson force is organized, Holder declined to comment, citing the Justice Department's pattern and practice investigation of the police department. "I think it's pretty clear that the need for wholesale change in that department is appropriate," Holder said at the Washington Ideas Forum, put on by The Aspen Institute and The Atlantic. "Exactly what the form of that change will be, I think, we'll wait until we complete our inquiry."
He also criticized leaks about the various investigations, saying that trying to shape public opinion about an ongoing investigation was inappropriate. "I've said I'm exasperated. That's a nice way of saying 'I'm mad,' because that's just not how things should be done." He added, "Whoever the sources of the leaks are needs to shut up."
Despite reports that he would be stepping down within the next few weeks, Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson told NBC News late Tuesday: "I have not been asked to resign, I have not been fired, and I will not be resigning next week. If I do resign, it will be my choice."

(17,997 posts)There are a few of us that care. But it seems many don't. Also seems as though many don't understand how incredibly important this is and it is what is going on in the entire country. It's just that the people of Ferguson are fighting back

(67,030 posts)example of where the US is progressing if this continues. Just what happened with OWS is deplorable. And in that case MSM was quick to spread propaganda to discredit OWS. The propaganda and outrageousness in the US gets progressively worse each day. It is, exactly what you say, citizens of Ferguson are fighting back and the oligarchical structure of the US will have none of that.

(67,030 posts)it quite prevalent after 9/11. IMO in many cops minds today, everyone is a suspect to be beat on, especially if looking for the right to peacefully demonstrate and equal rights. Sadly, IMO, police activities attract individuals like this and it appears little is done to screen them out ... often I think the superiors are as bad as the feet on the street.

(3,208 posts)I appreciate all of the info being provided about the cast of characters in this case. I am sitting on the edge of my seat, worrying about justice for Mike Brown and what it means for everyone if it doesn't at least get a chance.
I am very disappointed in Nixon and Roorda, they are democrats, but they are not doing what's best for the people in this state. I will be leaving the box next to Roorda's name blank. I will not vote for the rep. nor be happy to see the rep. candidate win, but I can't be a part of seeing this Roorda man get the job.
marym625
(17,997 posts)But for Powell and Myers as well. And that will never happen.
I am so disgusted, disillusioned and angry at the democratic party in this and voter suppression I could vomit. Where the hell are all the elected officials and candidates speaking out against the insanity that is St Louis County?
They know damn well that this is not an isolated case too. This racist bullshit is going on all over the country. The only difference is that the people of Ferguson took a stand and are not giving up. They are the MLKs and Malcolm X's of today.

(65,616 posts)This is a huge civil rights issue and now the GOP is whining about energized voters getting interested in the system to promote change. Yeah you better be scared GOP asshats! Of course they are also the groups sending thousands of dollars to keep Wilson out of jail. Sorry but guess what?
This is a global movement now.
Racism and gross injustice gets noticed.

(83,319 posts)I sure as hell hope so, Rex. I surely do! I am tired and I am pissed and sure as hell and mad for all the injustice.
The only thing that the GOP want to energize is hatred of this President and win 2014 and 2016.
They have done their best to screw everything this President has tried to accomplish. Even so he has made things happen.

(67,030 posts)might think that is history. It isn't, these types of individuals exist today, and it cuts across all nationalities and geographical locations. We have similar going on here today in some ways. The Ferguson situation has been handled horrifically. I'm amazed it continues. There are ways to defuse tensions without more ammo and armor supposedly being a solution. It isn't, and it is caveman mentality.

(10,597 posts)... only, who is going to go first, that's the question. AG Holder may be ready to put the hammer down on Ferguson PD (and hopefully McCullough and his kangaroo court), and at the same time the Grand Jury is about ready to "let-her-rip", i.e. let Wilson walk, which will no doubt cause you-know-whats in Ferguson and all over this country. If the latter happens and the Ferguson police state police dept starts killing people in the streets, I expect AG Holder will order the National Guard in to put a stop to it. That's why I want AG Holder to get the jump on this. He needs to stop the whole thing in it's tracks. Period. What has happened in Ferguson is a total miscarriage of Justice.
This is what we have to look forward to in this militarized police state situation in this country. We need to get the military out of the police depts everywhere!
RKP5637
(67,030 posts)and the status quo back then. These citizens are being cornered and pushed to the limit. Someone needs to remove the Ferguson PD from this situation. They have demonstrated over and over again they are incompetent to handle this. The militarization of local police like this is extremely dangerous to the survival of a democracy, what is left of it, in the US!
ReRe
(10,597 posts)... the Rodney King police brutality trial and it's aftermath. I'm telling you, AG Holder better hop to or at least be ready to deal with the aftermath if that Grand Jury lets Wilson walk on this.

(38,187 posts)There should be a murder trial each and every time an unarmed citizen is shot and murdered by police and an attempted murder charge plus numerous others including aggravated assault if the unarmed citizen survives being shot by police. There should be no question on whether or not a citizen deserves some kind of justice for such a horrible action by police.
The militarization, brutality, and outright war on the people in America needs to stop.
If I was a CT, I would say they are practicing for a major uprising due to some future plans that will piss off the majority of the country. There has to be some reason the police seem to think they need so much armor and weaponry against unarmed protestors. Tell me again why the police are stockpiling all this armor and weaponry just for crowd control with unarmed protestors? It doesn't make sense, unless they plan to slaughter a bunch of unarmed people. Oh wait, that is precisely what they have been doing in Ferguson. It is truly sickening to see this happening.
