Oregon Turnout Surges

Voter turnout in Lincoln County stood at 32.46 percent as of Tuesday, Oct. 28. That's about 9,000 voters, according to the Lincoln County Elections office.

With six days left before Election Day, Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown applauded Gilliam County for leading Oregon in voter turnout, with 41.6 percent of registered voters casting ballots as of Oct. 28.

Wallowa County has the second-highest turnout with 35.7 percent. Sherman and Lake county are tied for third with 34.8 percent.
“Earlier this month I challenged each and every Oregon voter to give their county the distinction of winning the 2014 Voter Turnout Challenge,” Brown said. “I’m very proud of voters in these rural counties for setting an example for the rest of the state to follow.”

Overall turnout in Oregon stands at 23.8 percent.

Usually the lower the number of registered voters in the Oregon county, the more Republican the balance is.

The other counties are all in the single district Oregon's 2d, that elects Republicans to Congress constantly with votes around 70/30 favoring Republicans. The district has about 648,000 residents. It is geographically large, the 7th largest district by area in the country and the largest in the State.

While Geographically large, doesn't that make it the least populated district in Oregon? (Oregon population being 3.9 million, 650K is 1/6th of the population, but we have 5 reps)
