Remember Hannity, Beck , and others of their cloth yelling that about 6 years back when Obama stepped into office. Today I filled up my tank with $2.95 gal. gas and shook my head pondering that if their predictions had come true I would be paying $66 to $115 more for those 22 gallons. Wonder when Fox news is going to report this on their, "Things We Said That Were Bullshit" segment.
Rachael Maddow has a bit about this:

(146,288 posts)that would soon be here - last Christmas. I told him to post a photo of the pump with that price when it happened. So far, no photo.
I bought gas the other day for under $2.50/gal with the help of my supermarket loyalty card's 50 cent/gal discount. Of course, I'm in Minnesota, not in California. Maybe I'll post a photo of that pump next time I build up a 50 cent/gal discount again.

(31,986 posts)At least those who know little about the global oil market. The oil companies do not favor Democrats or Republicans. They favor themselves. The price is set by a global marketplace which has nothing to do with who is U.S. President at the time. The price of gas has ranged from $2 -$4 in constant 2014 dollars since the 1920s. No conspiracy, just the marketplace.

Which political party (on a whole) best represents the oil companies?

(30,151 posts)Wind power in Texas consists of many wind farms with a total installed nameplate capacity of 12,212 MW[1] from over 40 different projects. Texas produces the most wind power of any U.S. state.[1] The wind boom in Texas was assisted by expansion of the states Renewable Portfolio Standard, use of designated Competitive Renewable Energy Zones, expedited transmission construction, and the necessary Public Utility Commission rule-making.[2] Wind power accounted for 8.3% of the electricity generated in Texas during 2013.[3]
The Roscoe Wind Farm (781 MW) is the state's largest wind farm. Other large wind farms in Texas include: Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center, Sherbino Wind Farm, Capricorn Ridge Wind Farm, Sweetwater Wind Farm, Buffalo Gap Wind Farm, King Mountain Wind Farm, Desert Sky Wind Farm, Wildorado Wind Ranch, and the Brazos Wind Farm.

(9,463 posts)be exactly the case. Oil (and therefore gasoline) is a limited resource and will eventually no longer be available. But long before that, it will be $8/gallon and, when it is, there won't be many people who can afford it.

(65,001 posts)Gas prices go up under Reagan and Bush 41. They actually go down under Clinton. They go up under Silverspoon. They go down under Obama.
There just might be a pattern here.

(31,986 posts)As many do on this subject, especially when they are political partisans. Gas went up and down with Bush and Obama. Gas has been priced in a fairly tight range of $2-$4 a gallon in inflation adjusted 2014 dollars since 1918.

(65,001 posts). . .was the point whooshing over your head. The facts don't matter to the people i was talking about.
When gas prices go up and a Dem is in office, they blame the president. When the prices go down under a Dem president they say the president doesn't have anything to do with it.
The pattern i'm talking about is still pretty clear.

(31,986 posts)It was because Bush and Cheney were "oil men". I see this going back and forth on both sides.

I didn't feel like waiting and knew I couldn't go back today because of the snowstorm. So I paid 50cents extra one last time.
