David Plouffe, the architect of Obama’s 2008 victory, on board with Clinton?

A longtime top political adviser to President Barack Obama secretly met with Hillary Clinton recently to offer up his advice for how to avoid another presidential campaign loss if she runs again in 2016, according to a new report.

Politico, citing unnamed sources, reports that David Plouffe, the architect of Obama’s 2008 defeat of Clinton, met with the former Secretary of State in September. Clinton is widely expected to run again, and much of Obama’s political brain trust is already backing her. Plouffe reportedly advised Clinton to make better use of advanced data analytics, define a coherent rationale for her candidacy and stick to a defined message throughout a campaign.

Plouffe’s most pressing point was about timing. A couple of weeks earlier, Clinton had told an audience in Mexico City, “I am going to be making a decision ... probably after the first of the year, about whether I’m going to run again or not.” The comment alarmed top Democrats: The Republican attack machine was already revving up, running anti-Hillary focus groups to figure out her vulnerabilities, dispatching opposition researchers to Arkansas, churning out anti-Hillary books and creating Fox News-fodder talking points to cast her State Department tenure as a failure and her campaign-to-be as a third-term extension of Obama’s increasingly unpopular presidency.

Now Plouffe, with the politesse of a man accustomed to padding around a president, implored her to start assembling a campaign as soon as possible and to dispense with the coy fiction that she’s not running in 2016. “Why not?” he asked. “They are already going after you.”

Sure, if "on board" means "paid to pick his brain" AtomicKitten Oct 2014 #1
so your implication is campaign advisers work for free? Obama paid Plouffe. wyldwolf Oct 2014 #2
One meeting in September hardly constitutes "on board." AtomicKitten Oct 2014 #3

No doubt she paid to pick his political strategist's brain. I don't see any evidence it amounted to anything more than that. Apparently Bill Clinton wants Mark Penn to run her campaign again which isn't going over well in Hillaryland.

The OP ends in big "?"

But, despite your snappy reply, the piece doesn't suggest he was 'hired' either.

But what it does emphatically say is "much of Obama’s political brain trust is already backing her."

And in regards to Plouffe, we do know this:

David Plouffe, the one-time Hillary Clinton critic who served as President Barack Obama's campaign manager in 2008 and later as a senior adviser in the White House, is now turning out to be one of the former secretary of state's biggest cheerleaders.

On Tuesday, Plouffe talked up the former first lady's chances at becoming the first female U.S. president in 2016, during an appearance at the Federal Legislative and Political Forum at the Realtor Party Convention and Trade Expo.

"Having run the campaign that beat her last time, and we barely beat her, she's in a much stronger position than she was then," Plouffe said -- joking that any Democrat who challenges her in a primary will do so "because they want an MSNBC show."
