If a Republican Senate and a Republican House passed a law to "reform" Social Security...?

First of all, would President Obama veto it? We should certainly hope so? He has flirted a bit with the issue in the past. Cutting the amount of FICA taxes contributed to the program, as a facade that it was a taxcut that was going to help the economy recover. Perhaps it did, in some small way?

Could we expect the Republicans to try and pass this type of legislation if they controlled the Senate? Isn't that a good reason to tell your friends that it is important that they vote this time? It is for the well-being of our society. You are 'required" by your conscience to vote. It is important.

People that say they know should not be so sure. They do not really know. Faith alone is not enough when the future lives of our people are at stake. Eternal Vigilance is the price of liberty.

Please remember to vote.

They will be pushing every kind of horrible right wing garbage bill they can through.

All that garbage the House has been passing the last 6 years that we haven't had get a vote in the Senate will have to get a veto stamp.

Republicans, if they win the Senate, pass as extreme measures as possible, to make the likelihood of vetoes greater. If they can actually pass legislation that can even remotely be considered 'moderate', there will be a much greater chance he'd feel like signing it, since he does seem to believe strongly in 'process'.

...a rubber stamp with the word "VETO" on it.

That said....The Repubs have no choice. They have gerrymandered their districts to be so red, that any aspect of "compromise" is considered weakness.

They know this can't continue and time will eventually catch up....but many of them are "career politicians" and have decided to save their collective ass and "retire" when they can't "win" (and given many of them are "old" already...plus, why do they care if the younger fruit loops get voted out later or sidelined). They decided to kick the can down the road rather than shape the GOP into a viable party. They are literally taking care of their own self interests and leaving the next generation to fix things.

...oh and leaving us to suffer as well.
