I guess I'm naive, I thought Poll Taxes were only applied to Blacks. Thanks for the education. How much was it? The bottom reads, "The sum of one and 50/100 dollars" - was it $151? If so, that was a huge amount in 1965. I remember making $1 an hr. as a young man and that would represent about 3 weeks of work.

My grandfather would accept $1 per vote during the Depression, then he voted the way he damn well pleased.

Feels like we're going back to these awful days. At least they were upfront about it back then and gave you a receipt.
