Racine WI Police respond to their SWAT team killing a 30 pound dog.

Cops are fucking amazing. They will blow away your pet and then say whatever they need to in order to justify it.

*** PRESS RELEASE ***
Date: November 3, 2014

No: 14-57
Subject: Tactical Situation/Barricaded Subject
Arrested: KURT M HANSON 55yoa Racine WI
1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety – Weapon
Felony Failure to Comply with Officer’s Attempts to Arrest
Obstructing an Officer
Disorderly Conduct While Armed

On Saturday November 1, 2014 at 11:29am, Racine Police officers responded to a weapons violation complaint at 4000 Victory Ave. Upon being dispatched to this call for service, officers were advised that KURT HANSON had threatened a neighbor with a machete. Upon arriving on the scene, officers spoke with neighbors regarding the complaint.

Initial attempts to make contact with Hanson were unsuccessful. As officers were speaking with his neighbor, Hanson called the dispatch center to inform dispatchers that the “police had better get off his property, or he would get a gun if he had to.” After disconnecting communication, HANSON contacted once again, this time stating that he would use his automatic rifle to “clean up the situation” if police wouldn’t leave. He then stated he had a crossbow that was capable of penetrating through police officers’ protective vests.

During the standoff, HANSON emerged from the home with his dog, yelling at officers and making threats that, if officers entered his property again, he would shoot them and order his dog to bite them as well. HANSON went back into the home after which, an officer was able to establish telephone communication with HANSON via landline. This officer spoke with HANSON for over an hour and a half, during which time, the officer made every effort to calm HANSON down to bring this matter to a peaceful resolution. During the telephone conversation HANSON repeatedly threatened officers with his crossbow, citing that he would send his dog out and order the dog to bite and maul officers. HANSEN added that he had a laser site pointed at one of the officer’s heads and would shoot.

Due to the critical nature of the situation, and in light of threats to kill officers, SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams was activated. As SWAT and CNT members arrived on scene, contact with HANSON was once again lost.

In an effort to facilitate direct communication with HANSON, SWAT teams approached the home to deliver portable communication equipment. At this time, HANSON appeared in the doorway of the residence along with his dog. HANSON’S dog was noted to be barking and growling.

While appearing near the front door of this residence on several occasions, HANSON refused all directives to exit the home peacefully. HANSON retreated back into the home, after which, he reemerged a short time later, this time with the dog that was barking in the doorway. SWAT personnel continued to yell commands to HANSON, with all commands being ignored
HANSON ultimately followed through with his threat to send his dog after officers. On multiple occasions during this standoff, HANSON stated he would order the dog to attack officers. As noted on the 911 tapes, HANSEN further expressed his desire to shoot officers in the head with a crossbow.

During the final moments of this standoff, HANSON was in close range to officers; however, his hands were not visible. In addition to failing to comply with commands to show his hand, HANSON made the decision to release his dog into the middle of this active and rapidly unfolding encounter.

Due to the fact that HANSON threatened to use his dog as a weapon during this standoff, tactical officers were now forced to divert their attention from the imminent threat of an armed, dangerous and intoxicated individual, to the dog that was intentionally released against them as threatened. To regain the focus required to address the deadly threat which had not yet been neutralized (that being an armed subject), the decision was made to use force to stop the dog at large.

HANSON was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

Would they have shot his grandmother too, if he threatened to set her loose on them, then shoved her out the door?
