Teacher forced to resign after parents freak out over recent trip to Kenya

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov 3 (Reuters) - A teacher at a Louisville, Kentucky, Catholic school has resigned rather than take paid leave after parents raised concerns about her trip to Kenya, half a continent away from the Ebola epidemic in western Africa, WDRB Channel 41 TV reported.

Susan Sherman, a religious education teacher who is also a registered nurse, was recently on a mission in Kenya in eastern Africa. When she returned, St. Margaret Mary school requested she take a precautionary 21-day leave and produce a health note from her doctor, according to a statement from the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Sherman, who taught religion to seventh- and eighth-graders, chose to resign instead, according to WDRB.

It was not immediately possible to reach Sherman for comment. Officials at St. Margaret Mary referred questions to the Archdiocese.

Cecelia Price, chief communications officer for the Archdiocese, said the decision to request the leave came from the school itself.

Maybe you could show me a post where a DUer was advocating quarantine for someone who was in an African country where there has been no Ebola. I'd be very curious to see where these "progressives" are.

cave to the comforting lies rather than expose the terrifying truth that they are all idiots.

Logical, scary as hell, but logical. The teacher has resigned, and I hope is suing their cowardly asses off....instead of using this to teach the parents about science they chose the cowards way out and caved to the fear.

At least they've actually had Ebola in Dallas.

Besides, I don't really mind seeing Texas get treated as a pariah state.

That said, no need for a quarantine or dr's note.

But no need either to exaggerate by saying "forced to resign".

I have zero patience for morons like these parents. None at all. I would be shoving maps in their faces and asking them in my most condescending possible tone to point out where Kenya is, where Liberia is, and asking how far apart they are based on "the little line thingee at the bottom with the distances on it - you know, the Dumbfuck Bar, for people like yourselves."

The teacher chose to resign, rather than accept a 21-day paid leave.

Disagree with whether you believe she should have had to make a choice of that nature all you want, but it was a choice - not a forced resignation.
