Teachout: Cuomo *Wants* Progressives to Stay Home Tomorrow

She implies that he prefers a Republican state senate. I think she's right.

In my inbox today:

Smarmie,

The election is tomorrow, but let's face it -- as we saw on the campaign trail, there aren't many populist, progressive Democrats truly excited to pull the lever for Andrew Cuomo this year.

It may feel tempting to just stay home and give the elections a miss. But giving into despair and staying home isn't the answer, even though the Governor's race is not competitive this year. The contest that really matters is for the State Senate, which is a live election -- close, and important. Odd as it may sound, Cuomo actually wants you, the progressive voter, to stay at home. It appears he would actually prefer a Republican Senate that he can blame for inaction on fracking, immigration reform, tax reform and just about every other progressive priority that he doesn't actually want to see happening.

Some of you may say that not all Democrats in New York fight for populist, progressive ends. You're right. But this is just the start. Then we've got a whole session to speak loudly about our dreams and what's possible, and make sure that everyone in New York knows it.

Our experience in the primary reaffirmed the importance of each citizen’s individual vote. Through our strong turnout, we were proud to show that the traditional, populist, progressive Democratic spirit was alive and strong, and we thank you, our loyal supporters, for casting the votes that were so important to sending that message loud and clear.

Now it's time to make your voice heard once again. Please make sure you know your polling location and have a voting plan for tomorrow's crucial election.

And please vote NO on Prop 1. It is fake reform that gives lawmakers the ability to draw their own districts.

Sincerely,

Tim Wu and Zephyr Teachout

Just another sore loser "progressive" who hates the Democratic Party. Even the WFP is endorsing Cuomo over her.

Otherwise they would have endorsed Teachout.

Cuomo's part of the deal was to get the 5 member IDC to switch back to the DEM caucus.

He says they will. They say they will.

Let's see how long THAT lasts after Tuesday.

"Hates the DEM party"? Who was it that repeatedly failed to show at the DEM candidate forums set up by local DEM committees so local DEMs could hear their DEM candidates for governor?

And TEACHOUT hates "the Democratic Party"?

Bullshit is right.

He wants cover for enacting his Republican policies. He's an asshole and if I were in New York I'd vote straight Dem ticket and not vote for Governer or do write in. Cuomo symbolizes everything wrong with what's become of the Democratic Party.
