We can blame ourselves for the condition of our country. Widespread apathy by not voting and voters embracing conservative philosophies are also the problem. Conservatism in the end conserves only the wealth for the wealthy and screws everyone even conservatives. If you are against unions, fair pay for everyone and not just women and are anti regulation then you will end up working more for less. Employers are not usually going to do the right thing or at least most of them are.
In this new business model profit at all costs employees suffer. Employers are like the Thenardier in Les Miserables. Listen to his song all the lyrics as the "master of the house" and you should get the message. The new economy and new employer employee relationship is "sucking the last drop of blood and last bit of energy" out of the work force with little or even no cost. It is a time where science fiction meets reality. The employer for the most part is like the ravenous alien creature.
If 70% of the work force cannot make ends meet and if only about 50% of the jobs are full time and fall way short for all the workers available, something is radically wrong in this country. It is obvious that income inequality is the problem as well.
And nothing will change by voting GOP or even conservative Democrat. Only a pro labor and pro union and fair wage agenda will correct the situation. It that is too communistic or progressive and such ideas are rejected, then it is hopeless for American workers.

(37,428 posts)The Supreme Court is pretty much out of our reach. When they decide out of the blue to overturn laws and elections, those individuals and their masters definitely earn a disproportional share of the blame.
Those who have voted the right way all along, and who lobbied progressively and helped get out the vote? I don't think they ought to get much blame, if any.
As a hyperbolic oversimplification, though, the OP isn't terrible.
