It's been "heavy" and "steady" here in Maine.
The ME SoS predicts a better than average turnout.
Good for Dems

(6,539 posts)We have mail-in ballots yet there was a line at the polling station! There really is no reason not to have mailed in your ballot or hand delivered it to the many boxes around the county. Some ladies are bringing their young children so they can get a "I Voted" sticker.
Beautiful, clear day in Colorado today. Go Dems!

(146,287 posts)I always vote at the same time of day, so I can see the vote count at that time. Looks about average here.
I went a couple of hours ago and there were more people than I have ever seen and I have been voting in the same place for years. The woman helping people feed their ballots properly into the box said they had already blown through their usual numbers for the whole day. It was great to see. Lots of people in line said the same thing.... we don't mind waiting, it means lots of people are out to vote. It is pouring rain now, so that may snuff out the turnout fire, but we'll see.

(36,063 posts)Actually had to wait to sign-in and for an empty booth. That typically doesn't happen for mid-term elections.

I didn't have to wait in line, like in '08, but there were plenty of folks there to vote. I did go early in the morning though, compared to the previous times when I have voted in the afternoon

The CT SoS predicts about 55 percent voter turnout.

(17,651 posts)And 2012 when the 'cons were casting much asparagus for Mcgrumpy, McCrory, Inc. and Mittens and were as numerous as flies on feces and we had to wait in line.
It's early though. My daughter will be voting after work, around 3 or 4 this afternoon. I'll be interested if anything has changed.

(19,833 posts)First time in years I'd seen a line. Not a long line but there were plenty of booths and still at least 6-8 people waiting about 2 hours after the polls opened.
Stellar
(5,644 posts)for a midterm election...not bad, not bad at all. Compared to 2010, when I could have prepared lunch and dinner there without interruption. They are doing pretty good. I live across the street from my polling place here in Chicago and I can't complain.

(15,088 posts)Not particularly a good sign because my area runs towards Republican senior citizens.

(3,109 posts)which is unusual for my district, usually there is no line or just one or two in line at that time.

(30,947 posts)I was able to walk right in, fill out the form, vote and be out in 10 minutes. But according to TV news reports there were lines at most of the polling places in the Atlanta area today. It is still early and I think the lines will be even longer when people get off work and hit the polls.

(11,360 posts)There wasn't a line, but most of the stations were occupied at what is usually the slowest time of day (mid-morning) - this in a very D area just outside Chicago.

(74 posts)I'm in a red area of Florida with a lot of retired and military, and the lines were very long. Longer than 2010 and 2012 and at age 45 I was probably the youngest in line at 11:30. Not too encouraging, but we'll see.

(31,849 posts)from 6:15a.m. until about two hours ago (and I posted about my experience between runs) ... on each trip I saw more people at the polling station, than on the trip before.
My second trip, I ferried a set of 92 year old African-American sisters. They told me that have voted in every election since the passage of the VRA. They thanked me, as the one sister had just stopped driving, and they were concerned that they wouldn't be able to get to the polls.
On another trip, I shuttled a group of 18 and 19 year olds, who were voting for the first time. From their conversation, it seems they were motivated to vote because " Martha) McSally was going to make it so they couldn't afford to continue in school." (That was a Ron Barber ad!)

(13,218 posts)Of course this may be simply to the fact that several polls did not open (perhaps due to getting th new systems working). This was not a severe problem as you can go to any precinct you want to vote. But still it was packed at about 10:30 am!

(1,973 posts)but I just read that "brisk" voter turnout being reported throughout my county
many (if not most) take advantage of early voting around here and have already voted

(3,370 posts)No line here, but there were other people going in and out of the building. I voted at 1pm, which is probably downtime as many people are at work, etc.
I was voter number 262. That's pretty good.
