Anecdotal note at the polls in deep East Texas

with a town makeup of over 51% black.

For the FIRST time ever...there was a majority of black people at the polls when I went.

There were 15 people in the polling place when I went and 12 of them were black.
I was joking with one lady in line and we were both like "if the best we can do is cancel out someone else's vote...then we did good"...

I so hope we turn this state blue...will be watching closely tonight.

It was disheartening to hear the overall makeup of Ferguson vs the participation in local politics. Hopefully you are right about that sleeping giant!

In races with a Rep, Libertarian, and Green, I voted Green.

A lot of races, like my state rep and state senator, had no Democrat running.

I got a governor, two senators, a state rep and a state senator and a Congresscritter that I did not vote for and who do not represent my values. Voting but no representation since Ann Richards got beaten in 1995.

I've been voting since Jimmy Carter ran for President in 1976.

I'm glad you have the choice.

I'm in Ohio and just hate it when there's no Dem. candidate opposing Republicans.
This happens mostly in judge races.

If she can keep it from reaching the 12% mark that helps out the movement of Democrats in the state in the next election. If it goes like the last election with Abbot winning with 12% or more, the state party stands to lose a lot of momentum.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, I'm just pointing out that even a loss, so long as it's by a smaller margin than in 2010 can be a positive sign for the state. Just a little something to think about down there in Texas as you watch the returns coming in tonight.

If you're in Texas, I'm hoping for an upset tonight that shakes the pundits to their core for you!

I actually saw lots of Wendy Davis signs around town.

Canceling out votes is about all we can hope for...at least for now. 538.com has an interesting article on what it will take to turn the Lone Star State blue. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/mapping-the-changing-face-of-the-lone-star-state/

When I saw Wendy Davis filibustering in her gym shoes trying to stop the republican white men (and women) from controlling women's bodies I LOVED IT. I can't tell you how sick I am of these old white men telling me and my daughters what we can and can't do with our bodies. And WHAT A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES! They hate homosexuals but how many of them are caught with male prostitutes? The whole bunch of them are SICK, SICK, SICK, HYPOCRITES AND GREEDY GREEDY P-I-G-S. And that governor in Texas is so dumb that it's ASTOUNDING (I realize he's not running this time). If Wendy Davis wins I'd be ecstatic and I'm in CA.

They live in Houston and she said that there was "barely anyone there" and no women besides her. She said she went expressly because, as a woman, she wanted to make certain that more rights weren't taken away from women in Texas.
