Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs stalking allowed on this site? I'm being harassed by a poster who claims
they are being chased by zombies. Weirder yet, they claim to be from another country.
I've sort of written it off as someone with troubles but I believe there should be limits to behavior.
DU based is hosted in US, right?
If not, that would be even weirder. But then again, global economy... outsourcing everything is the new reality.

(38,613 posts)As for the harassment, alerting on the posts might help.

(2,941 posts)levels it's a fact that's what's happening in the technology management business. You'd be horrified if you knew the true extent of our reliance on India, for example.
I wish more Americans would stand up and fight against the practice, but I feel like a lone voice in the wilderness against the practice.

(38,613 posts)What does being in another country have to do with this stalker? Are they claiming to be tech support?
whereisjustice
(2,941 posts)message control, and moderation. For example, say you have a "community web site" for a product or service. You can save a lot of money by bundling management services with an Infosys style outsourcing firm. This includes site management (tech support) and as part of the deal they will make sure posts are supportive of whatever tone you want to set. These people will make sure comments that might hint of dissent are minimized or removed.
I swear it's like warfare against free speech. The big tech corporations pioneered and perfected this practice, now companies who promise to do this on the cheap are popping our of the woodwork.
That's why you can never trust the "4 star" reviews of a product hosted on a companies own web site

(43,867 posts)Sometimes they claim to be from another country, post in broken English and constantly apologize for it (just so everyone KNOWS they're not from the US) then when their post count is up, suddenly they have perfect spelling and grammar.

(38,187 posts)and if they don't get hidden, alert on the results. That way admins can see it. If they send you a private message, alert on that too, so admins can take a look.

(16,380 posts)Our vigilantes are very selective on which "zombies" they "stalk".
If the zombies were pals with the vigilantes it's all good.

(89,244 posts)did you think only those in the US are able to sign up for DU ?
many people can sign up, in fact many people sign up multiple times even after being banned multiple times.

(24,544 posts)Ha!! I'm sick today so it took me a minute to figure out what the hell this OP was really about.
But stalking is all too real here though it tends to be frowned upon by those with morals, friends and/or lives. Yes, indeed.

(24,544 posts)And I can tell you that stalking is done here. No question about it. For some folks, it's the only way they can get anyone to respond to their posts.
