We should just refer to this Country as the United States of the Koch Brothers from this day forward

From College Park, Maryland, I sit here devastated.

Hogan is a tea-party type Republican. He opposes handgun background checks, thinks everyone who wants to own an assault rifle should be able to have one. Crime is already up in this state and that is just what we need -- people walking around with assault rifles.

Do you want to know what happened? Non-stop ads running the last couple of weeks -- probably financed by the Koch Brothers -- touting all the tax increases during this administration. I could not believe it. And Brown did not answer them.

We should just rename the Country the United States of the Koch Brothers because they along with the other billionaires own the Country now. We are just the minions who are led to believe by the press and our corrupt politicians that we actually have honest elections here. It is inconceivable to me that there were so many virtual ties in tonight's elections and the Republicans had all the successes they did.

And I think I am done with MSNBC and its tilted reporting. I had to turn the television off. Keith Olbermann sure called it correctly when he started looking for another job so he could leave that network. He privately said with Comcast's partnering up with NBC, he (Olbermann) would be muzzled. I could not believe some of the comments, really stupid remarks, made by the panel this evening. One of the standout offenses was made by Andrea Mitchell who said in effect this loss would ruin O'Malley's chance to run for President in 2016.

The only honest broker was Ed, who was reporting in Florida. Clearly, he was disturbed by what he was seeing.

This is a nightmare, and I cannot believe people are blaming Obama.

The flood of Koch et al money is what happened. It's not really an endorsement of Republican policy. I'm afraid a majority of the population is too stupid, lazy or vulnerable to constant commercials. The media has become the propaganda arm for corporate policy. ARGH!

I think the Koch Brothers are redefining the Republican party. They are arch conservatives (their father helped co-found the John Birch Society, and I believe David Koch is still a member). But all of this super right-wing stuff started floating around when the Tea Party was formed, and the Koch Brothers financed that.

We'll all be practicing our goose step and sing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch instead of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game".

to think clearly and see a way out for us Dems in 2016. Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day for starting to regroup. But I have little faith that many of the people who actually voted Republican today will wake up by 2016.
I hope I am wrong.

which of course is beyond the margin of error, and he lost tonight. One of the 3 counties he was really counting on for a lot of votes opened up late this morning. Lawyers went to court to try to get an extension of that counties voting site closing times, and the request was denied. Unbelievable. I just can't believe all of these republican wins. What are the odds? Brownback was definitely going down just last week, but yet he prevailed. I can't even talk about Wisconsin.

after the 2012 Rove meltdown live on TeeVee the Daddy Warbuk$ bros. learned a big lesson, not to be out front with well known election thieves. Instead we saw the gloating gnats whom most ignored while voting was rigged with ploys that could slip through the cracks as the rest of the electorate was distracted.

I am not convinced of the results, as you said, the odds...

Anyone who can stop and think for a minute should be able to recognize the tactics that have become the norm.

Just sayin'.

On another thread just now I was reading about Brad Blog's documenting all of the voting irregularities, and I happened across Chris Christie's words about the GOP needing to win as many governorships as possible so it could control the voting mechanisms in 2016 (when he course plans to run for President). How could anyone be so bold and so stupid to make such a statement that would be broadcasted to the public? I just can't believe what I am seeing, but worse, I cannot see a way for the citizens to overcome what has been lost this evening and stand a chance in 2016. And if Jeb Bush runs (from Florida), can we really expect a legitimate election considering his performance during the 2000 election controversy?

Where is our way out of this debacle?

for that question, I have no answer. I hope that I can come up with something that others would help to initiate, but I don't seem to be that popular when it really counts.

I have to drive to the west coast to see my mom - leaving tomorrow morning. I hope the long drive will allow for some serious reflection. I hope I can come up with a survival plan for myself and, perhaps, for the rest of us. Or at least some good ideas. I haven't been out of the region in many years, maybe it will render something helpful. I used to be able to get a lot of mental work done when I used to travel all over the country. I'll be traveling through in four large states, I wasn't really looking forward to going until a couple hours ago, now the idea of having thinking time is suddenly appealing.

I'll get back to you upon my return. Maybe I'll have some valuable ideas.

We need all of our energy to try to recover from this debacle and to brainstorm about new strategies to protect our goals and ideals. Fear depletes one's energy. Grieve for the moment and get the losses out of your system, then pull yourself together and start to think about strategies for our future. Then come to DU and write about your thoughts for the future.

Thanks for posting your true feelings. That took courage.
