Assuming Obama has the good sense to fire up the veto pen, nothing has changed...

Just stick to it. If they try and load some Keystone shit hidden into something we'd otherwise approve of, veto it. Rinse, repeat.

Now it's our turn to obstruct.

This is the President under whom oil and natural gas drillers have expanded exponentially. He held off on approving Keystone to try and keep Dems in line for the midterms. I'm guessing he'll sign Keystone to 'show he can work with the new Congress'.

Now we may get to hear about Benghazi, Fast & Furious, IRS, etc from both the house and senate. And the senate has a little more subpoena power. Hillary can't be happy about the prospect of 2 years of Benghazi investigations - coming up empty but keeping her on the front page in a way she doesn't want.

And, will Obama veto a bill that would avoid a government shutdown? If so, who will the country blame for the shutdown - it depends on the bill but it won't be a clear cut "R's to blame".

A lot depends on which Rs will be in charge. If they keep investigations to a minimum and pass a small amount of reasonable legislation it can be hard to use the veto. Even some unions (and D senators) want the keystone pipeline so it's not a no-brainer veto and Reid isn't there to make sure Obama doesn't have to veto it. If the Rs focus on investigations and abortion and gay marriage it will be easy but there's a good chance they let Cruz and others yell a lot about those issues without doing anything.
