in 2000 people were comfortable and a lot didn't think it made a difference who was president.
In 2004 it was an odd time after 9/11 and remember both those elections stolen but were still close.

After seeing what happened to this country and peoples lives thanks to that dimwitted idiot for them to turn it right back over to them after 6 years is so unimaginable I don't know what to even try to think.

their drunken puppet President, George W. bush, as an illegitimate and unelected President. GWB under Cheney laid out the foundations of the new government that will be becoming to a fruition under this new Comgress. History will call it the bloodless coupe of 2000.

The Disappearance of Reason, (DOR), Coupe of the Red Cloud, (CORC), Enlightenment Reversed, (ER), Cloud of Doom (COD). Come one, gloom with me, and come up with the perfect acronym for this day, Nov. 5, 1914.

2000 was absolutely terrible for the country because it got the imbecile w. bush in the White House along with the resulting disasters he caused. In hindsight, probably nothing could be worse than that.

But this is right up there. Even in "blue" states, republicans with terrible records won re-election. red states got redder. Blue states turned purple. This was a right wing tidal wave. Something is very wrong.

Even though they now control the congress, republicans will still blame Obama for anything negative that follows and claim credit for anything good. The ignorant voters will buy their baloney. And, the Democrats simply don't have the capacity to get their message out.

2016 will see total republican (business) control of all three branches of government with the country on a hard right wing path.

Having control of the White House definitely mitigates the damage a GOP Congress can do. So it's not as bad as 2000 or 2004 in that respect; if anything, it's our 2006.

On the other hand, it's a pretty dramatic repudiation of the party. To my mind, the real story isn't the Senate, which I always expected to flip for very predictable reasons. The real story is the governor's races; PA is a bright spot, but we lost 3 true-blue states (MA, MD, and IL) while failing to dislodge Scott, Snyder, or Walker. That's bad. That's very, very bad.

They show the muscle of corporate money post Citizens United and the effectiveness of the right wing propaganda machine.

It is going to take a long time to recover from this drubbing.

Nothing is as bad as the period from 2000-2006.

That was an American dark age.

We've still got the White House.
