It really was a perfect storm, wasn't it?

1. Pass Citizens United.
2. Remove Protections of the Voters Right Act. And have the Koch funded Governors take advantage of this.
3. Have the Koch Bros spend 290 Million buying this election, funding candidates that parrot their wish list, flooding the airwaves and your mailbox (snail & email) with blatant lies about the Democrats running for office.

4. Have the media talk non-stop how Obama's poll numbers have plummeted when they have stayed the same.
http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/10/31/obamas-approval-rating-remains-unchanged-this-y/201396 Yet, the republicans and their 11% approval numbers are never mentioned.

5. Have the media talk non-stop about Tom Harkin saying that Ernst is as pretty as Taylor Swift rather than informing their viewers on Joni's positions on the issues. (Insert any gopper candidate here).
In other words - have a msm that is MIA.

6. Have Democratic candidates let all of the above control the message and campaign on defense instead of offense, our accomplishments and Democratic Ideals.

7. Have a DNC that is MIA.

Am I just paranoid? Having a bad election hangover? Or could this really explain what happened last nite? How else could you explain Brownback winning re-election?

We were in denial and clinging to every little sliver of hope. Fatally optimistic, that's us.

You can add draconian voter ID restrictions in NC, TX, and probably elsewhere.

Also, you have to give money before they even show you the volunteering opportunities.

Fine, I'm also at fault for paying more attention to the VA races and helping there more than I did for MD where I live.
I thought my area was a little bit more solidly blue, so I picked my battle elsewhere.

I still voted a pretty much straight Dem ticket (other than writing in my name for a County Council seat(Yes, I did this)).

I received e-mails from candidates I'd never heard of before asking for money. Sometimes 100 a day.
