"Vampire" deer spotted for the first time in 60 years

More than 60 years after its last confirmed sighting, a deer with vampire like fangs has been seen in north east Afghanistan.

The animal - known as a kashmir musk deer - was last spotted by a Danish survey team in 1948.

Five sightings were recorded recently including spotting an adult male in three locations and a female with a fawn.

The amazing creatures are categorised as endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. Their scent glands are coveted by wildlife traffickers and are considered more valuable by weight than gold.

Or more precise for fighting during mating season, only the males have them.

2. I like how confirmed sighting only seems to apply when Westerners see the Animal.

We know poachers are seeing them since they are selling their fangs and scent glands on the black market which is why the Animal is considered Endangered.
