Remember that "fool me" George W. Bush quote from 2002?

From George W. Bush in 2002......"There`s an old saying in Tennessee-I know it`s in Texas, probably in Tennessee-that says, fool me once, shame on-shame on you. Fool me-you can`t get fooled again." In trying to make sense of the mid-term election results, Bush`s quote almost sounds brilliant, especially the "fool me" part.

I`m an old woman, I don`t like dealing with a lot of bullcrap and i don`t like it when someone tries to fool me. To me, a spade is still a spade, even if half the country says it`s a hammer. You`re no hammer, Mitch McConnell, and neither are you, Joni Ernst. To my way of thinking, we have to rid ourselves of this "fool me" habit and get down to the business of standing for something meaningful, standing for the people who need us the most. The back rooms of Congress are teeming with all kinds of little corporate helper elves....each with a fat checkbook and a habit of winking. For the most part, what`s missing in those back rooms is a person raising the issue of alcohol and domestic violence abuse among Native Americans or a person talking about why an unemployed 52-year old shouldn`t have to move to China so he can have his old job back. The whole country freaked out about a couple of cases of Ebola, yet ignored the pile of dead children from violence in Chicago. We just about stampeded our way to get those Support our Troops magnets, but if a soldier comes back from war to a repossessed house? Oh, well. Banksters are people too, just like the corporations they work for.

We need to uncomplicate our positions, clean up our message and unify. Stay away from Fox News and stop nibbling at the poison they serve. What good does it do to waste four hours watching their crap then come back here to repeat it? Haven`t we heard enough of their drivel? Couldn`t we use that time to contact other media with information or suggestions that might produce some good? Or get somebody actually thinking? This isn`t complicated. Start helping to empower the disadvantaged, the overlooked, the underserved....and do it with a solid, understandable, believable message of unity and renewal.

If some Democrats want to applaud Republican positions, so be it. Let them stay busy with their friends across the aisle while the rest of us concentrate on standing for something and being proud to do so. Let`s highlight why caving in isn`t the same as compromise. That way, people who want to count on us, can and people who want to help us, will. Blue is blue. It isn`t purple and it isn`t lime green.

Think old-fashioned Democrat, the people who fought like crazy for equal rights, worked toward peace and bought union labels.

Maybe Democrats will use these election results as a wake-up call...no actually like a meteor crater that just appeared in our neighborhoods. Look at that big hole and decide what to fill it with. Little written quotes from Fox "News" and videos of Sarah Palin foolishness? Or millions and millions of index cards with contact information of like-minded Democrats and others who are ready to rise and stand for something. A clear, simple, unifying message is a good place to start.
