Is there any reason why he couldn't be considered for a national ticket?

(7,908 posts)that loss has damaged Feingold's viability nationally. I sure haven't heard much from him since 2010 and wonder if maybe he returned to private life and practice. Wisconsin and this nation did not deserve someone of Feingold's high caliber, imo. (Only Dem Senator with the guts to vote against the Patriot Act on its first authorization round, IIRC.)

(7,908 posts)like Feingold to reach SCOTUS. But Feingold would be great there. He would be great as POTUS, come to think of it. America has had far, far worse than him.
Were you there in 1992 when he defeated that shitstain Bob Kasten? I was in Madison at the time and Feingold's campaign was a thing of beauty to behold (and very funny too!)

(27,985 posts)There is a movement to try to get him to run for his old seat. He'd probably win it back in a GE year, but I don't think he's at ALL interested in running. Maybe not for anything.
I dunno, SCOTUS is *perfect* for him and he played nice across the aisle, especially on nominations (much to the dismay of many on the left).
We'll see. He's my political soulmate and pretend boyfriend so a girl can dream of him on SCOTUS, too.

(34,658 posts)And although we think of him as a liberal, Feingold is very independent and its not always easy to predict how he will vote on something.
Two things are for sure: he respects the constitution and he cannot be bought.
I would love to see him on the Supreme Court.

(34,658 posts)to be the special envoy from the US to the Great Lakes Region in central africa. This includes Burundi, Rwanda, and Democratic Republic of Congo. These are very troubled countries with military dictatorships. Feingold works with UN envoys to try to bring peace and stability to the region. As a Senator he was on the Africa committee the whole time he was in the Senate.
So, he's a diplomat working for the US State Department. I expect he will continue in that role as long as Obama is in office.

(34,658 posts)But now he is involved in trying to stop a genocide and bring good government to some of the worst countries in Africa. I am so proud of him.

(7,908 posts)shitstain Bob Kasten. The '92 campaign was a thing of beauty to behold and I still remember it fondly even 20 years later out here in California. You have every right to feel proud of him.
