Please send good thoughts to my sweet kitteh India today, her 20th birthday

The above photo is a few years old, shortly after I got her, so there's a disclaimer, her 20th birthday is an estimate. She had been left behind when someone moved, and she was already an old lady according to the vet, so we gave her the same age as my two other old ladies, Scarlet and Melanie, who were 15 at the time, and for the past five years this day has been her birthday. She had a lot of problems already at 15, elevated kidney and liver functions, and arthritis, but she has always been very sweet. She was very friendly, also, and would greet new people right away.




She has CRF, and it's pretty advanced and she's lost quite a bit of weight. She probably only has a few weeks more, so she's getting pampered all the time. Even though she's old, she was always very tolerant of the young ones. Here she is with Ashley when he was about 3 months old...he was a terror, and Scarlet and Melanie avoided him, but when he calmed down, India would let him snuggle with her, like she did with all the new kittens. I'll miss her, but today we'll enjoy that she's still with us. Happy Birthday India!

I had a cat who lived to this advanced age. The last weeks can be sorrowful, but also filled with an odd contentment as you literally cherish each hour that you have together. You were a sweetheart to adopt an old furbaby, joeybee, and you were blessed to have her then for many years.

I hope India passes gently, and that you will feel peace and comfort knowing that you filled her last years with loving companionship.

I know how very difficult CRF is. You have my deepest empathy and kindest thoughts. How fortunate India was to land in your home. Thank you for giving her what you have. The last few books of her life have been pleasant and loving - the very kind we should all hope for.

How sweet with the little kittens. I had a cat with CRF and we did the daily IV of saline and it helped quite a lot and was inexpensive. Just a thought to keep her comfortable and give her the hydration she needs. It was recommended by my vet and I'm so glad we did it. My kitty had it for years and I was so worried about him, but the hydration kept him healthy a long time. But India has lived a wonderful, long life. She is very lucky you took her in.
