Who are these "thousands of scientists against the UN" Inhofe is babbling about?

Just heard him on CNN. Claims that starting back in 2002, he introduced into the Congressional Record the testimony of "thousands" of scientists who opposed the notion of man-made climate change who were being censored because they didn't agree with the UN.

1. If I had to take a guess, I'd say the moron is talking about meteorologists.

That was an embarrassingly stupid bit of sophistry that I believe he's connected to.

But he could just be flat-out lying again. Who knows.

2. Use a fact checker on that. The number of scientists who do not believe in climate change has been

getting smaller every year. One thing we on DU can do is check the lies out and show the facts.

3. Sen Inhofe - Having a degree in science - as in BS or MS does not make one a "scientist".

If that was the case, I can claim to be a scientist to be supporting the notion of man-made climate change against his scientists in April when I graduate. Even if it is a Bachelor of Science in - Business. It's still a science degree! Which makes me a scientist -

Does Liberty University and Bob Jones University have Bachelor of Science degrees? I guess those would be the numbers that matter.

unchallenged on national TV and it goes out to I presume millions of people. We fact check it and show it to be misrepresented BS to a very tiny fraction of that number. GAWD forbid that CNN or any other so called news organization would ever fact check or even question some of the statements from these right wing morons. I don't know if it is just laziness on their part or simply not allowed by their corporate masters. Either way, it is harming our country through targeted misinformation.

Lets get that list and see where these "scientists" stand today in 2014, 12 years later.

God's still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous.

There's a difference between personal opinion and scientific data. Scientists can say all kinds of stupid things in public. The scientific journals on the other hand aren't full of information backing up Inhofe's opinions on climate. Believe in science not necessarily scientists. The debate on climate is now 30+ years old in the published literature. It is a track record of a pretty conclusive knock out for climate change in terms of evidence supporting it.
