Cruz is both dumb and evil, which is a rare combination.

4. He's not stupid, just crazy like a fox. He's at least a sociopath, and is pandering to his base.

He knows by acting belligerant and creating a simple black and white reality around him, people will flock to him for that simplicity, that "true belief" attitude and that show of power. People who feel powerless often like bullies if they act with "certainty and convicion", especially if they can claim to be a leader anointed by some sort of higher power sent to vanquish enemies.

While I can't totally be sure he's a sociopath, not being a doctor and that, the one thing I can say for sure is that he is a bully with a lust for power and he's intellectually lazy.
