Astoria Cove site developer comes to labor union agreement for project’s construction

The developers asking city permission to build a controversial 1,700-unit luxury development on the Queens waterfront have come to an agreement to use union labor on the job, the Daily News has learned.

The Astoria Cove site developers, Alma Realty, have agreed to use union labor for construction, building maintenance and security on the mega-project, a source told The News.

It’s also expected that the developers will agree to increase the number of units of affordable housing in the project.

“Alma Realty has agreed to create good jobs," said Gary LaBarbera, the president of the union consortium Build Up NYC in a statement.
