Of course this assumes you can talk to the right winger and that you can change the mind of a right winger.

(9,796 posts)because they're opinion is not founded on facts but on emotion. Liberals accept climate change so conservatives have to be against it, it's that simple.

(23,156 posts)there was a fascinating talk by a man who recently retired from the Earthquake Center in Golden, Colorado, about ice ages.
Basically, we are three million years into an ice age. Right now we are in a warming portion. For the last three million years, there have been a pretty steady and reliable 100,000 year sequences which involve 90,000 years of ice ages, and 10,000 years without ice. We are 10,000 years into the time without ice.
Whether or not the current climate change (sometimes called global warming) almost undoubtedly due to human behavior, will override the onset of another 90,000 years of ice, is yet to be seen.
Another mini-fact: Recent research has indicated that there have been times when the planet has gone from mild, non-ice conditions, to full on ice age in under a century.
I think I'll have another glass of wine.
