Ambulance taking man to the hospital is flagged down by motorist - there's a dog on the side step

ASON, Texas (AP) — A dog named Buddy didn't wait for an invitation when his 85-year-old owner had to go to the hospital.

Four-year-old Buddy hitched a ride on the outside of the ambulance carrying Texas rancher J.R. Nicholson to Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Ranch hand Brian Wright said Friday that he summoned the ambulance Oct. 26 when Nicholson felt dizzy.

The San Angelo Standard-Times reports a motorist flagged down the ambulance to say a dog was on a side step. Buddy was then put into the ambulance with the patient.

Wright drove separately. At the hospital, medical staff told him about Buddy's trip. Wright retrieved the dog from the ambulance, then later drove his boss and Buddy home.

My SO is one lucky bugger because he's home in Denmark until the holidays. Eating good food and walking around a gorgeous city. I get to visit for the week of Christmas. Coming from a place with no seasons such as California, Christmas is no big deal, but Danish Christmas festivities are spectacular!

I hope your kitty was able to move on or get a new friend That's how we got our second cat, the older one was mourning so badly when his older friend died. I had never seen anything like it and it just broke my heart. And though I wasn't ready to get a new cat (because I was a wreck), we did for him. It worked out great and now they're inseparable.

Anyone who says that animals don't have any emotions or cognition is an idiot or hasn't spent much time around animals. They have so much personality and love. I hope your kitty is ok!

my husband was a paramedic they got a call for a man down on the street. Man was unconscious and his dobie was guarding him. Husbands partner and cops on scene were freaked out and wanted to do God knows what to the dog so they could treat the patient.
My husband loved animals and got along with all of them so he let the dog stay by the owners side. Let him ride in the rig and brought the dog right into the er dog was well behaved as long as he could watch over his man. The patient recovered and later thanked my husband.
I think there was a breed prejudice going on because it was s dobie.

Your husband has a beautiful heart. People sometimes don't understand how confused and sad pets get when something is wrong with their people.

There is a very famous dog in Japan named Hachiko who waited every day for his master at the train station for ten years. They built a statute to honor his love and commitment.

Give your husband a big hug for being so kind and compassionate. He helped both the man and his dog just by caring.

We had one, he was a terrific dog, very protective. We have had great Rottweilers, too. People are so scared of them, but they are very intelligent and caring. Buddy looks like a sweetheart. Glad the owner is back to normal so little Buddy can relax.

Coincidentally, between the time you wrote that and now, I replaced the first gif because the new one kind of reminded me of Republicans and Democrats. They're all from a website called imgur.com. DO NOT GO THERE unless you want to watch your life drip away gif by gif... it's totally addictive.

I've always loved the one of Stephen Colbert trying to get Barney Frank's attention.

About 20 miles into the ambulance’s journey to a Fredericksburg hospital, a driver flagged them down and told them there was a dog on the side of the ambulance, Brown said.
