LINCOLN — Sally Waters wants to make sure her family is taken care of when she’s gone.

She wants to know that they can remain in their comfortable Millard-area home. That they won’t be bankrupted with bills and taxes.

And that her impending death from advanced breast cancer won’t cost her children the chance for a bright future.

But the Nebraska Constitution makes it more difficult because Sally Waters’ spouse is a woman, Susan Waters.
