Investors Ready to Liquidate Public Schools

Plans are under way for investment corporations to execute the biggest conversion – some call it theft – of public schools property in U.S. history.

That is not hyperbole. Investment bankers themselves estimate that their taking over public schools is going to result in hundreds of billions of dollars in profit, if they can pull it off.

I was a public schools teacher for 16 years and knew many highly skilled teachers. Now, in addition to teaching ESL classes in a very good community college, I write about the politics of public education. That puts me in the presence of many very good, committed public school teachers. They grew up loving public school and love it now. And not one of them seems to really imagine the destruction of the current public schools system in the U.S.

Plans

But, there are very clear plans being made for just such a thing.

They'll just raise the price for processing the next generation of oligarchs. The State University systems, however, will be turned into privatized trade schools that will produce indentured lackeys for the Aristocracy.

Public school take over is just one phase. The concept of freedom, public programs and a shared existence is fading away while many Americans are such damn fools as they vote in the oligarchs many of whom are sociopaths.

The old saying is so true, one can lead a horse to water but not make them drink it. Hence, many Americans go around with their head up their butt or in the sand in their world of delusions while every minute detail of their lives and country is being monetized in this rigged and deprived system we call capitalism. And, there is NO escape. And many have their brains in an
iPhone as they stumble around in their ruts of life.

This is only my third post here in 14 years of opening DU first thing every morning. I pulled my kids out of the school system in 7th and 9th grade. I informed the principals in the schools that I disagreed with No Child Left Behind. In essence I ended up teaching my own girls who got their GEDs no problem...disgusted with the school system, but this, this is unconscionable. The Big Picture is awful...what are these people thinking? Why can't they go back to when I was in school...we actually learned some good things...I just turned 52 on Saturday...and I long for the days when I was in school and I loved it. I don't know what the answer is, but it isn't THIS!

Ah well then....Americana aka Rebecca

We had to opt out too. We would be horrible teachers and found a reasonable( not really) secular school. I am driving an old truck and growing veggies not spending & working ,but the education had become that bad we felt we had an obligation to provide a basic education

My worry is many parents are disgusted now ,more than when we left.
They may buy the BS and actually welcome the corporate takeover thinking it can't get any worse. Huh ? wait !
but try to convince them as they run to investors for help

the Koch-Suckers already buy Tennessee's public school systems? I could be wrong, but I know they want to control the curriculum in all American schools.
