I learned about the great app for the blind and vision impaired today

Giving a blind co-worker a ride home today we stopped to get over the counter meds for his wife and kids who are sick. I asked if he wanted me to mark the four identically packaged (store brands) in some way. He is as IT instructor so he is very technically savvy. "No, I have a reader and an app". Amazing.

About TapTapSee
TapTapSee is a mobile camera application designed specifically for the blind and visually impaired iOS users. The app utilizes the iDevice’s camera and VoiceOver functions to photograph objects and identify them out loud for the user.

TapTapSee enables the user to double tap on the device’s screen to photograph any two or three dimensional object at any angle, have it accurately analyzed, and defined within seconds. The iDevice’s VoiceOver then speaks the identification audibly to the user.

I have macular degeneration which is progressing. I will look into this now while I can still see most of what I need to. Interesting side note...my tablet would not enlarge the print of the info at the link and it was fairly small and difficult for me to read.

In the "General" section about half way down, is Accessibility. There are a variety of different settings for Zoom, Larger Type, Bold, Speak Text, etc. (iPad, all iOS)
