" if not for the boost of this voter-roll purge system used in 23 Republican-controlled states, the GOP could not have taken the US Senate."

What we found is simply a giant list of common namesa lot of voters named Michael Jackson, David Lee and Juan Rodriguez. The racial smell of it was apparent and awful. As the US Census tells us, African-Americans, Asian-Americans and Hispanics are 67% more likely to share a common name as a white American. In other words, the lists heavily targeted blue Americans, Democratic leaning voters...
Brad Friedman, the investigative reporter with encyclopedic knowledge of elections shenanigans, was also bemused by Nate Silvers confusion over the missing Democratic four percent. He cites the Crosscheck purges we discovered and adds in all the other tried and true methods of bending the vote, from Photo ID restrictions to missing voter registrations and a deliberate shortage of paper ballots in minority precincts. In Georgia alone, 56,000 registration forms collected by a coalition of minority voting rights groups were simply not added to the voter rolls...
We have now launched an investigation to uncover the names of all the voters Ohio plans to scrub from the registration rolls by 2016. The answer may well determine who will choose our next president: the voters or Crosscheck.

(3,533 posts)What is the legality here? Our legal eagles can't find anything illegal about this? How about equal rights, states must prove they're not allowed to vote because they ACTUALLY voted in another state. This is craziness.
We knew about this scam in the 2000 elections in Fla.. Why weren't we prepared for this trickery? This smells really rotten. Does the possibility exist that the repubs and right-wing dems huddled in secret and this is what we got. Their easy next step, blame the voters. How can you not stop shaking your head.

(12,121 posts)In 2000 the purging of 40,000+ with names SIMILAR to convicted felons from Florida voter rolls was done. They selected the cheap option with no double checking the list.
And the professional rabble rousers to show how dangerous paper ballots were.
And the close-ups on the bug eyed guy to show how tedious hand-counting could be, ogling hanging chads.
We didn't stop them then, and now the "cleaning up" of the voter rolls has gotten even more extreme. Same First and Last Name.
In 2016 will they purge anyone who chooses Ms. as their prefix?

(11,481 posts)at least not to the Democratic Party power structure. Otherwise they would be screaming this to the High Heavens and to anyone who would listen.
And Democratic voters? Apparently it's all right with them too since they're not out in the streets protesting this shit. Even a Bolshevik will fight for (small "d" democratic rights when they're being infringed. But not the Democratic voters.

Why isn't it?
