Golden Retriever Epically Fails During Dog Show, Wins All Our Hearts in the Process

When you think of dog shows, you probably think of a giant poodle covered in bows prancing around it circles. And you’d be mostly right. Dog shows are absolutely ridiculous. But this agility test during the Finnish dog show Koira Mestari — which loosely translates to “dog champion” — takes it to a new level.

The objective here is for the dog to showcase focus and discipline by racing through an obstacle course of tennis balls and sausages and everything else dogs love.

This Australian Shepherd shows how it’s indented to go:

The part where the judge looked at his watch then back up at the dog made me chuckle.

There's nothing wrong with agility training. It's mainly for working dogs and they are happiest when they are kept busy. Goldens have may good qualities, but competing against shepherds in this kind of competition is not one of them.

So I would engage in staring contests with my terrier (actually it was my MOM's terrier, the rest of us just lived with it). The dog always won. I would get bored waiting for it to quit growling.

I sorta figured that short attention span really meant "not good at letting others tell it what to do".

I once had a staring contest with one of the cat's I had - a mean old male tomcat - who had an attiude... I won in the end - but it was a "close call" as the cat could steer at me - and I was almost given up when he finally gave way....

I gave him a treat for the effort - and he was rather content I guess.... But then again -That cat always was deciding with his tummy... When I think about it - all my cats desied did that...

but they won't back down from anything. Terriers have a ton of attitude. We had an Airedale Terrier- 60 lbs of terrier attitude. It takes a very strong person to own one of those.

I'm not sure - back home we had a king puddle - named Sara - who was on show a few times - but she was a loosely dog in the circle - rather the opposite - if she got the sent of one of us - she was seldom listen to the person who was walking in the ring - rather she was trying the best she was able to come to us - even if it mean ruining true a lot of pepole...

What she lacked in the compartment of walking in the circle - she gave back in loving her family - and making sure she was the point of our interest .. She was a kind dog - who also was very sporty - she could walk tours for hours - and was often a dog who had a lot of fun... The first couple of years she was often wisting the nabour - who had a pair of rabbits she wanted to play with - I'm not sure if the rabbits was to happy about the dog wisting them - but Sara had some fun.... And she never harmed any of them - she was gentle and rather procreative of the two rabits...

She ended up rather old too - 16 year and 3 mounts she ended up being - no bad for a dog even if she was a Podle...

And by the way - police forces in some country's in the world are using Poodles as bomb squad dogs - as they have a nose who can sent anything they are trained to smell - That and drug dogs are they famous for being, and are also reckoned as one of the smartest dogs out there - intelligent and smart - but who also need a lot of training and attention to details - as they often is easy to distract from what they are learning... But if you work with the dog - you can learn the dog to do allmoust anything you want...

Yes - they are smart dogs - smart and gentle - and you need to be somewhat active around them as they are allways up for something - and also want to be active and walk long walks... That is a good thing as it keep the owner healty
