A Question about Fox News.

Of course, we all know this >>
"The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, successfully argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort when reporting the news." (3/09/2010)

My Thoughts lead to this: "When reporting the News"

"NEWS" is defined as:
1.Current events; important or interesting recent happenings

2.information about such events, as in the mass media

Sooo...If I say: The Actress looked stunning in her black dress last night at the awards. (THAT'S News)
But: If I say: The Actress looked stunning in her Orange shorts last night at the awards. (that's NOT News)

You see where I'm going with this.
When Fox News lies, are they ACTUALLY reporting the "News" or are they not reporting the news and therefore, would the court ruling not apply to their broadcast ?

Or is my so-called logic in total error? Tell Me...I can take it.

As such they can say anything they please unless of course it is obvious slander or defamatory.

That way they don't have to back up anything they say or do. As a last
resort they can always say something like "hey, we were only kidding".

BecKKK and Limbaugh are exactly the same way. Spineless weasels.

So, if Faux news decides to knowingly slander someone, are they immune?

This all takes me back to the horrendous decision to end the fairness doctrine. It is now open season on truth, and any sense of the press as the Fourth Estate "checks and balances".

Murdoch Street Urinal.

They take the news and twist it into what ever talking point they want to get across.
