i just got off the phone with the NRA

I just got a robo-call from the NRA, I had the privilege of listening to a pre-recorded message from Wacky Wayne and then a spokesperson came on the phone to warn me about the evil Obama who wants to take away my gun rights. I don't believe they expected to get ahold of a relatively well informed gun control supporting liberal in Georgia. She couldn't tell me one single thing that President Obama was doing to restrict my gun rights, all she did was keep spouting about 'liberal media' and 'liberals in Congress' (even though GOPers now control congress). SO.... if nothing else I helped raise the blood pressure of a right wing NRA hack this morning.

On the flip side, it's apparent the NRA has a well funded propaganda machine and they are very good at spreading fear among less well informed Americans. It's no wonder that it's impossible for any meaningful progress to made in getting sensible gun legislation passed.

Reading from a conversation script in front of her.

If she was compensated on some kind of performance measure ...you just wasted her time

helped her earn $8/hr and recognize bs at the same time. Her paid time was well spent. I say a job well done.

She had definitely been drinking lots of NRA cool-aide. Besides, every minute I spent wasting her time was a minute when she wasn't collecting donations from someone else.

She is coached to act as though she cares.

I doubt you made her day any better than the drudgery is is every day.

But by all means, pat yourself on the back.

Usually is the ILA-NRA looking for money.

It is true that President Obama campaigned on banning some very popular rifles, pistols, and shotguns and tried to make that happen after Sandy Hook, but other than that there hasn't been much except inexplicable executive actions like not allowing WWII Garand rifles back into the country for collectors.
