GOP doesn't want to help Undocumented Workers - they just want to keep their cheap labor!

Last edited Mon Nov 24, 2014, 06:09 PM - Edit history (1)

This fight has never been about Undocumented Workers.

Think about this. If absolutely no Americans here in the USA was offering any jobs to any Undocumented Workers, do you think Undocumented Workers would still keep pouring into this country?

Undocumented Workers come here for one reason - because somewhere in the United States there are legal US Citizens knowingly and willingly offering Undocumented Workers a job.

These certain US Citizens do it because they know they can pay less to Undocumented Workers because these certain US Citizens hiring them does not have to follow minimum wage laws.

These certain US Citizens do it because they know they can work Undocumented Workers longer because these certain US Citizens hiring them does not have to follow 40hr work week laws.

These certain US Citizens do it because they do not have to worry about safety issues for Undocumented Workers since these certain US Citizens hiring them does not have to worry about OSHA laws.

In fact there is a whole slew of work related laws that can be chucked when hiring Undocumented Workers. What's sad is most of these Undocumented Workers barely know the language or have enough contact with the outside world to know how to fight back when placed into dangerous jobs they could be hired into when taking these jobs here in the United States. But they take them because somehow they might get a chance to send money home to their family and create a better life. Those are some shitty jobs those Undocumented Workers get stuck with in order to help make their lives better.

In the end this battle over Immigration has absolutely nothing about the Undocumented Workers. It has to do with those US Citizens who rely on their cheap Undocumented Workers labor who would lose that easy money savings if suddenly we had to start paying these people a decent wage and ensure that these folks had decent working conditions.

Edit note to replace Illegal with Undocumented

In the end the GOP is fighting to protect the 1% so they have their cheap labor.

that it is the Grand Old Party who covets the desire to keep the work force - plantation structure in place.

There's a reason the GOPers use that instead of "undocumented."

Oh, maybe they could be "legal" and hire through indentured slave programs like H-1B and H-2B that they've used to exploit foreign tech workers, and other "guest workers" like the ones they screwed paying low wages in Louisiana to rebuild that area after Katrina instead of hiring locals that needed jobs to rebuild their homes and their lives there.

http://www.lexisnexis.com/legalnewsroom/immigration/b/outsidenews/archive/2013/06/28/multiple-trafficking-rico-civil-rights-violations-lawsuits-filed-on-behalf-of-h-2b-visa-workers.aspx

This is what will happen if they make these processes that these *illegal* employers would want to put in place for undocumenteds to institutionalize the exploitation they use on them now.

they'd prosecute the people hiring them. They're a lot easier to find, since they're US citizens with fixed addresses. And if there were no jobs, there would be no workers.

The GOP doesn't quite get around to doing that for some reason.

I'll hear someone, somewhere complain about how 'Illegals are taking all our jobs'.

I ask that person this question - 'So you're upset because you aspire to work manual labor? You wanted to be a fruit picker? Or clean out meat packing plants? Or wash dishes at restaurants?'. I feel bad because these Undocumented Workers come into our country and they take the shittiest jobs that most of us probably don't want in the first place and then we shit on them and blame them for taking these shitty jobs anyways. And in the end it isn't about them taking our shitty jobs, it about the fact that if we made them documented we might actually have to give them some decent rights and the people who hire them might actually have to pay them a bit more and make sure the work environment is safe and that we don't overwork these people to death.

So in the end Faux News, Rush Limbaugh and the other GOP mouthpieces push the argument that somehow these people willing to come to our country and do these really shitty jobs are the cause of all our problems because what NO ONE WANTS TO ADMIT is that in the end we don't want to give them rights because god forbid these assholes that hired these people to do these really shitty jobs wants to keep them doing these shitty jobs for near slave wages and conditions!

of getting any of their money back.

It is truly sad!

I am in ag and without the hard hard work of these people there would only be the commodity crops that one is able to plant and harvest mechanically. The row and field crops (rice, wheat, soy, corn, cotton, sugar beets, alfalfa, field beans, oil seed crops, etc). All those veggies and fruits and nuts? All here because these people are working so hard- there is no overtime pay for ag work in the US (only in CA is there a 60 hr week, but most farms don't even pay overtime after that)- and they do pay into social security.

I guess I am surprised over the posts. This has always been about cheap labor. For 60 years this issue has been about cheap labor. This started before WWII and it has always been about cheap labor.

If a law is not enforced for 60 years is it a law? NO it is not a law and no they are not illegal.

If you want to arrest someone then arrest the stinking, rotten, cheating, un-American employers who hire the hard working immigrants.

Minimum Wage for US citizens as "much too generous" and "an unlawful infringement upon the 1%'s financial well-being."
