But we don't know what happened at that car window. Suppose you were grabbed by the shirt and pulled into the window. Would you punch a cop in that instance? Did that happen? I don't know, but it is a possible scenario, and might warrant a punch.

It's sad when the "conservative, family values cop fathers" portrayed on TV are more liberal than people like Giuliani and McCulloch because it'd be too politically incorrect to show them in real life on cable news, acting like Archie Bunker and shit.

Because they're speaking for a groundswell of folks who feel powerless because they aren't allowed to come right out and blame blacks and immigrants for making them feel unsafe, and they feel powerless for not being allowed to say cops should be allowed to shoot people for acting up, Dirty Harry style -- just like the average citizen should, in their opinion. Or maybe not, I suspect Giuliani feels only cops should have that power.

But that's what makes guys like him and the tea party so angry all the time, in my opinion. They feel unable to express what they really feel to their more liberal relatives. So they get bottled up until something like this comes along. I wouldn't be surprised (Eugene Robinson said as much) if they wanted to "let the town burn to show what these people are really like" like Louisiana politicians were saying after the hurricane.
