15 to 20 feet after he started pushing people with his vehicle, the woman was pushed over and her legs went under the driver's side of the vehicle.

In Minnesota, pedestrians always have the right of way, regardless if a marked crosswalk or not. And this was an intersection.

And he damn well knew it. He may not have know that he dragged a woman under his vehicle for 20 feet, but he certainly, without any doubt, knew that he was pushing people with his car.

It's not just the woman he knocked over and dragged, every single person that he ran into was a count of B&A with a deadly weapon. The people who chose to jump onto his car are potentially liable for the damage to it, but I'd tend to give them a pass as they were trying to prevent him from further hurting people.

I've seen several people comment that his vision was obstructed by the people jumping on his hood. To those people, if your reaction to suddenly having your vision obstructed is to hit the gas, might I please request that you don't drive in Minnesota? I live here and it snows here. I was incorrect in my previous post his crime started when he started honking and driving toward the people. That is assault the threat of violence. Well before there was anyone jumping on his hood he had committed a crime. Battery commenced once his vehicle touched a person. He has the responsibility of controlling his vehicle.

You seem to be limiting your vision of the whole incident to dragging the woman on the ground which I agree he may not have seen her there but it is a reasonable conclusion that if you plow into a crowd you will eventually run someone over.

I would say that there should be at least 5 if not 10 counts of A&B with a deadly weapon against him. Not to mention leaving the scene of an accident. He deliberately drove into the crowd, honking as he approached, well before your excuses of "being scared shitless" could begin to have ANY relevance. that was later changed more from the strib, wonder if he has a 'whisky" plate?

The girl who was run over by the horn-blaring Subaru station wagon was taken by emergency responders to Regions Hospital for minor injuries. Police withheld her identity because she is a juvenile.

“The victim’s vehicle was damaged by a large group of people,” said the report released early Wednesday by police. “While [the driver] was attempting to flee from the mob, he struck a pedestrian. State accident report filed.”

The Wednesday morning police report listed Rice as a “victim” and the injured girl under a category marked “other.” Later in the day, police changed the listing of Rice to “suspect.” They did not provide additional information or immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rice’s driving history in Minnesota includes three drunken driving convictions, with the most recent coming in 2003, according to court records. He’s also been convicted of driving with an open liquor bottle, and driving after his license was canceled and in violation of restrictions placed on his license. The most recent of these convictions came in early 2008.

Michigan State Police and Detroit police moved the protesters off the interstate, allowing traffic to resume on the northbound lanes.
