Meanwhile...Is Obama pulling an LBJ?

Medea Benjamin, CodePink / Global Exchange / Drone Warfare, joins Thom Hartmann. On Saturday, the New York Times revealed that President Obama has secretly ordered the military to continue combat missions against the Taliban in Afghanistan through 2015. This goes back on his promise to end the war by 2014. What's going on here? Do you think he's just responding to politics or was this his plan all along? The bigger picture here is really startling. Obama's doubling down in Syria, Iraq, and now Afghanistan. Is he "pulling an LBJ”? According to the Guardian, the US air campaign in Syria is pushing Syrian rebels into the hands of ISIS. What should this tell us about war using war to solve the world problems?

Hagel, for example, if I read right, was both for and against escalation and getting Assad, and that is why he had to step down.

I think the argument Obama fell for was "we have to have more troops so we can with withdraw." I don't know why, but I don't believe we have used that one before.
