The grief-stricken mother of Michael Brown says police officer Darren Wilson's first interview following a grand jury's decision not to indict him in her teenage son's shooting death "added insult to injury."
Lesley McSpadden, Brown's mother, called the Wilson's interview "disrespectful" on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday, a day after the officer's interview with ABC News aired.
"I don't believe a word of it," McSpadden said on "CBS This Morning."
Wilson's account of the events that led to Brown's killing on Aug. 9 "sounds crazy," Michael Brown Sr. said on "Today."
*"For one, my son, he respected law enforcement," Brown Sr. said. "Two, who in their right mind would rush or charge at a police officer that has his gun drawn? It sounds crazy."
"I know my son far too well to know he wouldn't ever do anything like that," McSpadden said on CBS. "He wouldn't do anything to provoke anyone to do anything to him, and he wouldn't do anything to anybody."
She said she believes Wilson was intent on violence.
"He didn't do what he had to do, he did what he wanted to do," McSpadden said."I don't think he wanted to kill my son, but he wanted to kill someone."

(9,126 posts)Because his version of events can only be possible if Mike Brown were on some serious drugs like the Zombie guy. But his drug test was released and there was nothing in it that could explain the story. Wilson, was he tested?

(65,616 posts)Exactly, he had two non-lethal options that would have stopped Brown in his tracks and the training to use both.

Darren Wilson's version of the story is IMPOSSIBLE. Either that, or Mike Brown is truly inhuman. Because he is the only person who has ever lived on this planet, who, while running and being shot at, turned and decided to run 150 FEET back towards the gun. He was running, shots fired that missed, and so he turned and was going to run half of a football field, not stopping even when he was hit multiple times, until he was killed. Pretending to have a gun in his waistband that he didn't have so keeping his hand in his shorts as he ran, a completely unnatural posture and would slow someone down considerably. The boy was running into bullets because he was so mad the cop told him to walk on the sidewalk.
That is the story that the prosecutor allowed the jury to hear and aided them to believe. That was the story that was not questioned or cross-examined. It was the eye witnesses that were cross-examined. The grand jury was not the place to put those witnesses on trial, and it sure as shit isn't the job of the prosecutor to kill his own case. All he had to do was show how incredibly untrue Wilson's story was and then hammered him at trial.

(3,194 posts)He acted perfectly reasonably assuming his goal was to get a no-bill on all possible charges.
Dustlawyer
(10,495 posts)was way more than enough evidence to indict, plus the unorthodoxed approach to the GJ there is no other reasonable explanation for what happened. Then the orchestrated fiasco on the release of the findings late at night, a solitary police "bait" car left out unattended begging for the protestors to vent on.
The Browns should be given a "Do Over." This was rigged because the D.A. Refused to do his job!

(13,390 posts)I know it was in his hand not his leg or abdomen or something. But still! Wouldn't that interfere at least a little bit with how much he would have been physically up to what Wilson claimed?

(9,527 posts)Did his parents know he was willing to commit robbery including manhandling the clerk?
For example, Susan Klebold said her son "Dylan was a gentle, sensible kid", a description most people would probably disagree with given his final actions.

After suicides it's so common that it's cliche to say that nobody saw anything was wrong.
I'm not comparing Brown to Dylan Klebold or to somebody who is suicidal (although I'm sure some will think so), but that parents rarely know exactly what their kids are up to, or who they are with their friends.
