What Has Impressed Me About The Ferguson Support Protests Around The Country Is.....

that the make-up of the bulk of the protesters is young adults and of all colors - not just blacks - but all races.

I heartened by that. I'm hoping that this is an issue which will cause them to get involved and politically active. I'm hoping that they are seeing that there are consequences to voting or in this case not voting.

I was very disappointed in the youth vote at the recent midterms. But this issue has seemed to wake them up.

I hope that they carry this fervor and spirit into future elections and pick the right candidates that will represent their beliefs.

1. It'll only carry forward if politicians offer to do something about it.

If politicians retreat, it will fizzle out.

And then we'll get people saying things like "youth need to wake up". Again.

Ferguson PD Monday night. I was scared for her, but then when my husband started saying things like "She needs to come home!" I told him this is her world now and she has to do what she feels is right. So, while I do feel bad about the shape of the world they have grown up into, I do have a lot of hope. I also think the technology and social networking will make a difference for this generation as well. So far they are using it very well. That has to make many in authority mad!
(But I will nag her and my other kids to vote as long as I am alive!)

in Obama. He isn't pure as driven snow and his flaws are too great for them to participate in our government and won't be joining in again for some time because Hillary...or so I was told this afternoon at lunch.

didn't they. And that's even IF Brown DID assault Wilson. Quite frankly, I never believe cops. They have a vested interest in lying about EVERYTHING.

which was confined to black folk in the Hood. This is a lot more widespread and a lot more multi-racial. I think that a lot more people are beginning to realize that, although people of color bear the brunt of this type of violent special police oppression, in reality, it can happen to anyone.

I also think that there is a lot of disgust with the political system, as witnessed by the abysmal turnout for this last election and people are also realizing that the only recourse they have is in the streets. It's relatively peaceful for now, but if this violent oppression continues, it won't stay peaceful. Remember over 60% of eligible voters didn't vote. If most of them feel their only recourse is in the streets, well that's a LOT of people.

Instead, they watched as the Obama administration protected Bush admin officials, protected corrupt banks, and quashed Occupy Wall Street.

Now you want them to come out and keep voting for Democrats? Keep in mind the governor of Missouri is a Democrat.

What exactly do you want them to vote for?
