Isn't it time to have another Freedom Summer or better yet, spring?

Isn't the population of Ferguson a huge majority black? Lets help them get organized and get people registered and give them a plan of action on how to take control of their town. Sometimes we fell helpless when all that is needed is a helping hand to steer us through the fog. There should be a black Mayor and Police Chief and the majority of members on the city council. Lets help them meet that goal and keep it.

From the reading I have done, the voter turnout is dismal for city elections with turnout not exceeding 12% for municipal elections.

I suspect if the residents invested only half the energy they used protesting into voting, real change would be a certainty.

They just need some help reminding them plus helping them get people on the ballot that they can feel proud to vote for. There is so little advance talk about upcoming elections that people just seem to forget. It is the same way in my little berg. Once there is change, there will at at least be people who are more responsive to the majorities desires.

I have the same problem with Hispanic voters in my county. They just do not vote and they are controlled by the minority because they do vote. I really have hell getting them to vote in the Democratic primary since that information is public and the they HAD to vote for a Democrat. There was a whiff of Jim Crow not long ago. not overt but suttle but it was effective.
