If my team is doing it, I don't care. Sometimes you have to do bad things to make good things happen.

If the other guy is doing it, it is wrong and they should be prosecuted.

Corruption in politics is like sausage making; no one wants to know how things get done, so quit fussing.

Corruption is criminal, and anyone doing it belongs in jail (not office) regardless of party.

Ask a question like that among a bunch of left-wing, impractical Camilles who have no clue about how the world operates, and what kinda answer ya expect to get? Nothing Rahm Emanuel or Debbie Wasserman Scheiße wold advocate, that's fer damsure.

I have personally been riled up when Republicans get away with bad things/get convinced Democrats are idiots who think "playing nice" is always the way to go, but at the end of the day, I don't want corruption in politics - I want a fair fight, and if that means slinging the occassional mud ball at someone playing dirty (what a metaphor! lol!) I expect someone to throw the punch.

But I have seen "my team/their team" used several times (Bush/Obama; Ferguson), and I even asked the question "why aren't the Ferguson Republicans screaming bloody murder?"

I was curious if my views were common (corruption=bad, regardless of party), or whether I am just...naive.

"When politics enter . . . government, nothing resulting there from in the way of crimes and infamies is then incredible.  It actually enables one to accept and believe the impossible."

"The government of my country snubs honest simplicity, but fondles artistic villainy, and I think I might have developed into a very capable pickpocket if I had remained in the public service a year or two."

"Right here in this heart and home and fountain-head of law this great factory where are forged those rules that create good order and compel virtue and honesty in the other communities of the land, rascality achieves its highest perfection."

"It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress."

"I think I can say, and say with pride, that we have some legislatures that bring in higher prices than any in the world."

"Senator: Person who makes laws in Washington when not doing time."

Mark Twain

Multipliers in sentencing according to governmental level.
Times 1 for city level (below 200,00 in population)
1.5 X for county and metropolitan level
2 X for state level
2.5 X for federal level.
Both briber and bribee.

Mandatory sentencing extenders linked to dollar value in crime.
1 year per $100,00.00
Below threshold no extender
Sentencing for crime to be served prior to beginning extension period.

Because "Democrats!"

But you are right - when it is put out there in pure "black and white" -- it does seem unlikely that people will agree with it, doesn't it?

Yet in real life, everyone sees shades of gray....

it would be less shocking on the other side, since they seem more comfortable with ends over means (murdering abortion doctors in protest of "murder", for example).

But would you care to do a compare/contrast on "criminal" behavior of Bill Clinton versus George W. Bush? I am interested in your thoughts.

And we all know how that turned out. If he had any idea what he was up against there might have been a different result. I say play by the rules until you know for sure circumstances dictate otherwise.
