Did Zimmerman actually apologize for killing Trayvon?

All I heard him say to Trayvon's parents was that he was "sorry for the LOSS of your son."

That's about as detached as it gets from the actual crime. Bet at least a thousand people have said exactly the same thing to them.

any more of an apology would be used against him as an admission of guilt.

at least, i can't figure out reasonable way to word it other than what he said, or that wouldn't sound contrived or self-serving.

e.g., "sorry i had to kill your son in self-defence." i don't think that would have been better.



it's unfortunate, because when it comes time to sentence his sorry ass, it becomes relevant whether or not he has any remorse or feels any guilt.
