GOP Staffer to Obama's Teenage Daughters: "Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar."

GOP aide's online dig at Obama daughters creates backlash--

The communications director for a Republican member of Congress ignited a firestorm this weekend after she criticized President Obama's teenage daughters in a Facebook post that touched a nerve even for Americans accustomed to political mudslinging:

Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you're both in those awful teen years, but you're a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play. Then again your mother and father don'€™t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I'm guessing you're coming up a little short in the good role model department. Nevertheless, stretch yourself. Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don't make faces during televised public events.

So many people wear clothes because it's what "the job requires", but that's just another form of lying, when you dress wearing something you do not feel like wearing, but wear it because it is "what is expected."

Needless to say, her personal sense of style leaves much to be desired. I'd be more bothered by the apology than the initial comment.

so not surprise there.

and speaking of tacky....

Elizabeth Lauten is an egotistical elitist who posts her perfect ACT and near-perfect SAT standardized admission tests scores and MENSA membership online for the world to see,

This person is in no position to lecture anyone about "showing class". Politician's kids should be off limits, outside of some very exceptional circumstances.

But she apparently apologized online on Saturday.

"I reacted to an article and quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager," she wrote. "After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents and re-reading my words online, I can see more clearly how hurtful my words were. Please know that these judgmental feelings truly have no pace in my heart. Furthermore, I'd like to apologize to all of those who I have hurt and offended with my words, and pledge to learn and grow (and I assure you I have) from this experience."

Update: It appears Lauten has deleted the apology from Facebook.

Christians love taking children and teenagers to task. "Spare the rod, spoil the child."

Just imagine, if it had instead been your or your neighbors' daughters. It likely would have never made the news, and she wouldn't have received much if any blowback.

I saw nothing inappropriate
They were very composed, imo. Given the stage they were on I'm not sure what was expected.

Catching an unflatering still shot from video is easy peasy. If these stills they came up with were the worst they could get that tells me they had little to work with. All the other shots showed two beautiful, perfectly dressed and groomed, teenage girls.
