Off-Duty Cop Charged With Shooting Woman For Cutting Him Off In Traffic

An off-duty cop got upset at a woman for cutting him off and allegedly fired his gun into her window, hitting her in the head.

Now Houston Police Officer Kenneth Caplan is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Click2Houston.

The woman, whose name was not released by the station, said the bullet grazed the left side of her head, allowing her to avoid a major injury.

"I feel like I got a taste of death, honestly," she told the station. "My heart was slowing down and I couldn't really breathe."

I mean, reckless driving by cutting off this man, that is certainly a death penalty offense when the one cut off is a cop.

Do I really need to add the sarcasm thing? Really? Well fine. Here you go.

Because then it would have been fully justified. A cop being cut off in traffic would surely feel his life was in danger.

Even 2pac had the charges against him dropped for shooting at off-duty police officers harassing a black motorist. It also helped the weapons the off-duty cops had on them were stolen from out of the evidence locker.

----

The police say witnesses gave this account of the incident in Atlanta: Mark Whitwell, 33, a police officer in Clayton County, just south of Atlanta, and his wife were crossing an Atlanta street with Mr. Whitwell's brother Scott, a 32-year-old police officer in Henry County, and his wife. Scott Whitwell's wife had recently passed the state bar examination and the two couples were out celebrating.

After the couples were nearly hit by a car, the two officers, who were both in civilian clothes, argued with the driver and passengers of the car as well as the occupants of a second car that pulled up.

According to some accounts, Mark Whitwell pulled out a gun. It was not clear whether he fired it, said both Atlanta and Clayton County police.

Witnesses said Mr. Shakur then fired a gun, and Capt. Carson said that three shell casings from a 9-millimeter pistol were recovered by the police. A spokesman for the Clayton County police said the department does not issue an off-duty weapon to its officers. -------------------- Rapper Arrested in Bronx

Later stories indicated why they had guns on them.

and noticed them in other forums and have never seen posting duplicates enforced outside of LBN.

It can be pretty hard to notice with the fast moving forum and variety of topics so I'm sure the author would have kicked an existing thread knowing it, as long as the message gets out is what matters, imo.

If she'd shot at the cop instead, do you think she'd get away with an aggravated assault charge?
