Better yet, some cold island off the coast where he has to fish for his food, ice carve for something to do. No TV, no newspapers, no future.
(With apologies to the fine folks in Alaska.) You must know of some uninhabited island where he could build an Igloo.

Be gone with him. Anywhere except where he would find people, animals, birds, ---anything of comfort.

This is my opinion, I hope it does not offend anyone.

Oops, I just read that he will not be getting severance pay. I have deleted my comment about benefits and pension.

Scholarships for black kids who enter the academy, well I like that but it's such a drop in the bucket.

Same thing with $100-$300/month stipends for officers who live in the neighborhood?

Hell, it ought to be a fucking requirement that police live in the neighborhoods they work in.

If they cannot terminate Wilson because of issues like union protections, which seems to be the case, the town has to offer him something to leave now.

Whether they call any payment a "severance" is irrelevant. As an attorney, I know it's relatively easy to phrase or structure a payment any way you wish. I expect that Wilson will be receiving "deferred compensation," a "settlement" in resolution any labor claims and in consideration for non-disparagement, an "alternative pension disposition," or some other fiction that amounts to severance.
