The other officers could have told the jury "I put a lot of excess pressure on his chest and think I might of stopped him from breathing!" and the jury would then have reasonable doubt enough not to indite.
Why grant immunity to these other officers?
Seems weird to me.

(14,177 posts)It's not the DA's first rodeo the result could have been foreseen and avoided. Since it wasn't avoided I am inclined to believe it was done to keep the murdering cop from being indicted.

(2,593 posts)the Mayor on Chris Hayes, I think the DA gave the police union the result they wanted. I believe that union probably wields a lot of political power.
I'm a huge supporter of unions in general and live in a union household, but I think these police unions are a problem.

(14,177 posts)the police give DA's what they want all day long ie evidence against people they want to prosecute. So they have a very tight relationship. Yet, the DA is in charge of getting them indicted if they commit a crime or if a situation happens that looks hinky or a situation happens that doesn't really look hinky until details start coming out that arnt quite right. I think this practice needs to stop ASAP. They need a different office altogether to go to the grand jury. I think a State DA that has no ties to any law enforcement agency would make the system more impartial.
