Want to shut down the government but can't get to a march?

It's easy.

At 9 am Eastern time tomorrow, call your members of Congress -- both reps, both senators -- the White House, and the DOJ. Don't spam. Don't make multiple calls to the same person or office. Just exercise your constitutional right to speak to your government. Keep calling until you get through.

If only a million people call, it will shut down the phone circuits in DC. Members of Congress won't be able to call for a pizza, for dinner reservations, or for call girls or call boys. It will bring the government to a standstill.

You can do it from the comfort of your own home.

No one is at work tomorrow except staffers--most of the principals, they all left tonight if they're going to do their weekends in the district/state.

Also, when people jam the government phone lines, they just pick up their cell phones.

But I also think you underestimate the Capitol's PBX system. Incoming calls are dropped if they would tie up the entire trunk -- you can always get a line out.

as it serves no purpose. I will exercise my constitutional rights to contact my representatives when I deem the issue(s) appropriate and express my feelings. Jamming a switch board does not serve the purpose of expressing my thoughts to my representatives.
