Speaking out for the first time, the shattered mother of Akai Gurley broke down in tears Friday as she pleaded for justice.
Theres nothing in this world that can heal my pain and my heartache, Sylvia Palmer sobbed. I need justice for my son because my son didnt deserve to die like that.

The Florida-based Palmer broke her silence hours after the Daily News revealed that Gurleys shooter, rookie police officer Peter Liang, was allegedly texting his union representative as the unarmed man lay dying.
It was a neighbors 911 call that alerted emergency responders to the shooting inside a darkened Pink Houses stairwell on Nov. 20.
Liang and his partner Shaun Landau were inexplicably incommunicado for six and a half minutes following the fatal encounter, sources told The News.
In the critical moments after the shooting, the cops commanding officer and an emergency operator knowing the duo was in the area tried to reach them in vain, sources said.
