That might force the congress to act but we would end up having seperate fed and state elections for a time if they went ahead with this in the states.

With most states doing early voting plus absentee, there are many opportunists for someone to vote if they are unable to on election day.

And a lot of people, especially working people, work on the weekends. So I don't really think moving the day at this point will make any difference in turnout.

It seems to produce really high turnout in the few states that do it. My state NY doesn't even have early voting. Not that it was a problem for me this election cause there were maybe two ahead of me online, but with the weird shifts some are forced to work even 15 hours may not be enough time.
